Start a case
Start a case is the main place in the portal to begin new cases for your organisation. You will also see Start a case on Immigration and EU mobility overviews — same types as this page, filtered to that domain’s sections.
Two ways to begin
1. Describe what you need
Explain the situation in your own words (for example “We are hiring a US engineer to Copenhagen next quarter”) and optionally attach an employment contract. Dimmi Counsel can help outline which applications are needed before you commit to a specific type.
2. Pick a case type
Cards are split into four titled groups in a responsive grid — two columns on larger screens, one column on smaller devices (availability depends on what is enabled for your organisation).
Packages
- International relocation — hire / move with a work permit path (Dimmi fee shown as From when applicable)
- Business trip — meetings-only travel abroad
- Assignment abroad — they will perform work in the host country (often with A1 and related obligations; Dimmi fee shown as From when applicable)
Immigration
- Work permit (get a work permit for an employee, without settling support), PhD / researcher hire, Accompanying family, Permit extension, and other individual immigration types when offered
EU mobility
- A1 / S1 — portable social-security certificates when that module is on
- Posted worker notification when offered
Relocation
- Settling steps such as Housing, Residence registration, Tax Setup, and Moving when relocation cases are enabled
Government application fees are not shown on these Start a case cards.
Company certifications (for example Fast-track company certification or Host visitor approval) are not on Start a case. Open Admin → Certifications instead — those are company-level cases without an employee invite.
What happens next
Most types continue with:
- Who the case is for — pick someone from your workforce or enter name and work email
- Employment / trip details — office, contract, dates, destination as required
- Documents and authorisations — employer Power of Attorney when needed
- Optional settling — housing, moving, and similar when life infrastructure is enabled for relocation-style hires
Posted worker notification and Business trip can collect several people at once, then Dimmi starts a separate application for each person.
Cross-border journeys (business trip / work abroad) create linked obligations Dimmi tracks together. You follow them under Social Security and on the person’s profile — you do not manage a separate “assignments” list in the portal beyond those cases.
Fees you may see
Without an enterprise deal, cards may show Dimmi service fees and typical government fee ranges. With an enterprise deal, list prices are usually hidden and commercial terms are handled separately. Payment is typically by invoice — see Billing.
